The chiropractors at Ilkley Chiropractic Clinic are specialists in the treatment of all types of musculoskeletal conditions, particularly those of back or spinal pain; whether it be low back pain (historically termed lumbago), mid back pain, upper back pain and also neck pain, our chiropractors use a range of techniques including manipulation, massage, acupuncture, ultrasound; and many other modalities, to reduce the symptoms of pain and improve the mobility of the joint, nerve, muscle, ligament and other soft tissues.

It might be a 'slipped disc' arising from a sports injury, or a whiplash resultant from a road traffic accident that initiates the pain. Each can benefit from the care of chiropractic. Many types of migraine and headache improve with the aide of the chiropractor's expertise.

Chiropractic is one of the therapies that has been shown to assist patients suffering with osteoarthritis, commonly referred to as 'wear and tear'. Conditions that are associated to osteoporosis can also benefit from chiropractic management.

A number of patients present with symptoms they describe as sciatica, or they may have been diagnosed with it by their GP. In many cases the symptoms are as a result of pelvic or lumbar conditions. Sciatic pain resulting from a prolapsed disc or other nerve impingement ('trapped nerve') usually responds well to chiropractic treatment.

Ilkley Chiropractic is fortunate to have the services of a remedial masseur who undertakes therapeutic and sports massage, which not only helps to speed up the recovery from injury of many of our patients, but who also gives them important information on how to maintain the optimal function of the musculoskeletal system.

All our clinicians have detailed knowledge of the appropriate exercises for the particular condition being treated. This care also focuses on the need for short and long term rehabilitation. Chiropractic management allows time for discussion and advice on all aspects of each patient, including exercise, posture and ergonomics regardless of age and ability.

Ligamentous sprains and muscular strains that often occur as a consequence of a sports injury respond well to chiropractic treatment and management.

Chiropractic is well known for the treatment of back, pelvic and leg complaints. It is less well known for the treatment of problems that arise in the shoulder and arms, like rotator cuff injuries, tennis elbow or carpal tunnel syndrome. Chiropractors also often treat childhood conditions like colic, and those that are colloquially called 'growing pains' by some other medical clinicians.
